Roundtable "Frankfurt am Main - the Experience of Establishment of a European Financial Centre in the Region FrankfurtRhineMain"  (5th December 2007) (permalink )

Frankfurt am Main is the centre of a region that provides the full range of financial and financial-relevant products and services. This is the home of the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank, the German Stock exchange, main German banks, global Insurances, accountants and financial advisors as well as specialised legal offices.

Since 2000 the cooperation between the City of Moscow and Frankfurt am Main has been actively developing. On 16.11.2006 the Mayors of the two cities signed a Memorandum of Cooperation declaring, in particular, the support for close cooperation among Moscow and Frankfurt banks and stock exchanges, based on the role of Moscow and Frankfurt as major European financial centres.  The Roundtable held on 5th December 2007 was another step in strengthening the long-term cooperation between the two cities.

 

The issues discussed at the Roundtable were:

- the main stages in establishment and development of Frankfurt am Main as the European financial centre,

- practical issues related to international marketing of the two cities – Frankfurt and Moscow,

- the background and conditions for establishment and development of an international financial centre, in particular: development of capital market and transport infrastructure, personnel training, development of private equity market, acquisition of companies, etc.,

- prospects for the City of Moscow development into an international financial centre.
