The Congress "Frankfurt Investment Day in Moscow" was organised for the purposes of strengthening of cooperation between the City of Moscow as the financial centre of the Russian Federation and Frankfurt am Main as the largest financial and banking centre of continental Europe. The spheres and the main issues of this cooperation were stipulated by the Protocol of Cooperation signed between the City of Moscow Government and the Magistrate of Frankfurt on 17 May 2001.

Frankfurt Investment Day in Moscow was held for the first time, as a reply to the Day of Moscow Economy which was held in Frankfurt in 2003 and proved to be a very successful event. Then the City of Moscow delegation was headed by Mayor Yuri Luzhkov.

In the Congress "Frankfurt Investment Day in Moscow" took part the representatives of top management from the leading German and Russian banks, financial institutions, companies and enterprises. The event was attended by the high officials of the City of Moscow Government, heads of the organisations subordinate to the City of Moscow Government, as well as top managers from many Moscow companies and enterprises. The Frankfurt official delegation was headed by Oberburgomeisterin Petra Roth who, together with the City of Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, made an opening adress to the participants of the Congress in the Moscow Mayor's office bulding at 36, Novy Arbat Str.

The working language of this event was Russian, with simultaneous interpretation into German. However there was no obligatory request from the organizers to make the presentations in Russian or German only, as many speakers preferred to prepare their presentations in the English language.
